“Queen of the coast - tin 1”
“Queen of the Coast” is an ode to my discovery and love of Portuguese sardines. This one-of-a-kind painting is acrylic paint outlined with black technical pen on a 1960s geological chart of Portugal. This larger-than-life tin of sardines is from one of the oldest canning companies in Portugal. Sardines have played such a big role in Portugal’s history, and canned sardines are such a ubiquitous part of daily life, it seemed fitting to paint them over this map that was found at a Lisbon flea market. You can purchase the original below or a Limited Edition print here.
