Pflueger

from €150.00

My dad taught me to fly fish when I was a kid. Not with a $1,000 graphite rod and some aerospace-grade reel, but with my grandfather's cane rod and English reel, casting a piece of cork as a fly.

That's what Pflueger represented. They made fly reels from the 1880s through most of the 20th century, and they weren't precious about it. These were working tools - machined brass and steel, simple click-and-pawl mechanisms that you could service yourself. The kind of gear that lived in a tackle box, got dunked in rivers, and kept working.

Black silhouette of an angler mid-cast over a hand-drafted Pflueger patent diagram, all against the green-pink-grey gradient of a rainbow trout. Before CAD, someone had to draft every component of that reel by hand. Every gear tooth, every screw hole, every measurement precise enough for machinists to manufacture from. That's not just technical documentation - that's craftsmanship at every level.

Vintage Pflueger ads are ghost-printed in the background, making those old promises about reliability. The difference is, they actually delivered. People are still fishing with Pfluegers from the 1950s. That's what "built to last" meant before it became a marketing phrase.

High Quality Canvas
My Giclée canvas prints are crafted with high-quality, archival materials to ensure lasting durability and vibrant colors. Experience gallery-quality results on a semi-matte cotton canvas. The UV print technique ensures water and fade resistance, while the lightly textured surface adds depth and the look of the original canvas to the print.

The canvas is 344 gsm in weight and stretched onto wooden stretcher bars like the original. Once stretched, the final print will be around 20mm deep/thick on the side.

Framing
The floater frames are crafted from poplar hardwood, giving your canvas the appearance of floating within the frame. The frame is 1 cm (0.4”) wide from the front and 4 cm (1.6”) deep from the side. The frames come in black, white, and oak to suit any artwork. Optionally, you can receive your artwork without a frame if you would like to have it framed yourself. Note: Frames may vary slightly in color, finish, and spacing from example images.

Ready to hang
Each print comes ready to hang with pre-installed sawtooth hardware and rubber bumpers to protect your wall and keep your artwork perfectly aligned.

  • Remove any clutter from in front of the wall. It would be best if the wall were blank.

  • Stick a piece of paper (with the size written on the sheet, i.e, “A4” or “Letter”), a Dollar/Euro, or ruler, to the wall as a size reference.

  • Take a natural, well-lit image of your wall.

  • Email your photo and the size of the print you’re interested in to studio@evansmade.com

  • I’ll email your photoshopped image within 1-2 working days.
