Lil' Racer 73
There's a specific kind of daydream that belongs to kids in pedal cars. You're five years old, pushing those little pedals as hard as you can, and in your head you're running wide open at Bonneville. The speedometer in your imagination reads 200.
This piece started with an illustration from a 1930s French catalog. French commercial illustration from that era had a different quality than American work. More refined, with Art Deco influence still in the line weight and composition. Cross-hatching, clean contours, the works. But I couldn't leave it pristine. I bolted on a hotrod blower intake because that's what was needed. The quiet elegance of French draftsmanship meets American "more is more" hotrod culture.
A Ferrari gated shifter for the kid who grew into an adult without loosing love for class and speed. The "73" ghosted in the background is my birth year, making this part nostalgia, part autobiography. The orange spray paint drips and trails off the back because standing still is boring. This one's for anyone who still makes engine noises in their head when they get behind the wheel. The pedal car kid grew up, but the daydream's still running.
Original Painting: 1,600€, 120cm x 40cm, Acrylic on canvas

Take a natural, well-lit image of your wall.
