The Dapper Driver on checked background. It started as a plaid background that got too distracting. It’s still there but i painted over it with what I really wanted… something super clean and simple. The checks I’ve been using in my other Speed Shop work and that racing has been using for over 120 years.
The checked background was loosely painted to keep the edges from being too sterile. The neon orange driver was stenciled on with a bit of help from gravity, then hand-drawn with a dark navy POSCA pen. The whole piece finished off with a handcrafted frame and my favorite carbon-grey paint.
