I make the original piece. I photograph it. Then I print a small, signed and numbered edition, sized to exactly how many members are in the club that month, and never one more. If there are 22 of us, the edition is 22. However, the original is shipped at random, to one member in place of the printed version, and the rest of us keep the edition.
These editions are never sold separately. Not on the site, not at shows, not in back alleys. The only way to own one is to be in the club when it drops. I suppose boosting it from someone’s mailbox or something would work, though.
Twelve originals a year. Twelve editions printed. Twelve stories told. Because every card comes with the piece behind it: what it is, why I made it, what I was into when I did.
